This 0.96ct rustic cut natural Sri Lankan sapphire has flecks of orange dancing through it’s beautiful lilac colour. I chose some natural orange sapphires to compliment it either side. I knew when this stone arrived from my supplier, it had to be set in 9ct Rose gold. The pastel tones of the lilac and orange sapphires and the warm blush of the rose gold remind me of lilac and marigolds. The heavy smell of lilac in the air bringing back a flood of memories from my childhood, when life was easier and carefree. 

When lock down began, I had only managed to grab minimal tools and some wax. I had no idea when I would be able to get back into my studio again so I was grateful to have been able to make something. I spent days meticulously working on the wax, gently carving and building the wax around the gemstones.  Making sure every stroke looked just right. I rarely plan these pieces out, I like to just let it flow naturally. Usually I can envision what the ring will look like finished. This ring surpassed my expectations. Expertly set into a hand carved rose gold band. This ring is one of a kind. It is a very special ring.
